Neuroaffirming family wellbeing support
I work with neurodivergent families to create practical and gentle shifts in their lifestyle, environment, and daily life by understanding their unique nervous system, sensory needs, and capacity.
For neurodivergent families where daily life can feel full, complex, or harder to hold than expected.
Often this is shaped by the way nervous systems, sensory needs, emotional wellbeing, executive functioning, and lived experience interact within family life.
I work closely with parents and caregivers, taking a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach to understanding what is happening across the family system — how each person is functioning, where overwhelm or burnout is building, and what is shaping the rhythm, energy, and emotional tone of everyone’s days.
Many families I work with are deeply attuned, thoughtful, and already working hard to support their children and each other in meaningful ways. Often what’s missing is not more strategies, but space to make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and to create changes that genuinely fit the family’s capacity, neurotypes, and lived reality.
This is a gentle, relational, judgement-free approach that values understanding over fixing, and supports your family as it is.
Ways we can work together
Neurodivergent Family & Home Support
In-home or online practical support to create calmer, more supportive family life through organisation, planning, sensory-friendly environments, executive functioning support, and everyday systems. Can invoice for NDIS too.
Neuroaffirming Sleep Support
Holistic consultations exploring sleep through the lens of nervous system regulation, circadian rhythm, sensory needs, and family wellbeing.
If this feels like a good fit, we begin with an introductory conversation.
An initial phone or video call is a space to talk through what’s been happening in your family, what feels most challenging right now, and what you’ve already tried or noticed. There is no need to prepare anything beforehand, and nothing is expected of you beyond simply showing up as you are.
Depending on your family’s needs, support may involve different areas of daily life such as sleep and wellbeing, home environment and organisation, routines and rhythms, executive functioning supports, sensory-informed strategies, meal and daily flow planning, or creating more flow in high-stress points of the day.
The focus is always on reducing overwhelm and creating practical, realistic shifts that fit your family’s actual capacity — not adding more to your plate.
There is no pressure to commit beyond that first conversation.
Client testimonial
“I am SO relieved to have found Kara! She totally gets me and my neurodivergent family. So not only does she get excited when she sees our clutter, but I feel safe. My nervous system is regulated because I feel seen and understood, cared for and not judged, and can actually engage with the (previously overwhelming) task at hand. I'm so grateful for her. Kara is a gift!”
Michaela O, Melbourne parent
I’m Kara, a neuro-affirming family wellbeing consultant with over 25 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families across home, sleep, sensory environments, and everyday family life.
My approach is shaped by a deep interest in nervous system regulation, circadian rhythms, and the ways our environments influence how we function and feel day to day.
Alongside my professional work, I’m a home educating parent, and much of my perspective comes from lived experience of being AuDHD and raising neurodivergent children while navigating the realities of family life alongside other ND families.
I’m also drawn to play, nature, and simple, grounded ways of supporting regulation and connection. With a background in psychology and ongoing counselling study, I support parents to create gentle, realistic shifts that bring more clarity, connection, and joy into everyday life.
